It took me awhile to wean myself off monthlies. There's that oh so addictive quality of serial fiction that keeps you wanting the regular fix. However, for some reason, I'll reread the heck out of TPB's, but once they go in a box, I rarely touch my floppies again. I decided I'd get more long term enjoyment from waiting. Plus, I'd get the whole story at once with no ads, and it cost less to boot. It's a win-win situation.
Once I got used to it, I was happy and content staying 6 - 8 months behind the curve. Few of my RL friends read comics and the folks I know online are really respectful about avoiding spoilers.
Then Kat sent me this
Damn her. I must have it!
This means I probably better catch up on the Messiah Complex if I don't want spoilers. That means not waiting for trades due out in May. Oh, theoretically I could go into the store and just buy one title, never looking at the sweet sweet candy on the shelves. I could also sneeze sentient disco balls.
So tell me, when you have the choice between low cost and immediate gratification, do you read the trades or the monthlies? If you read both, what must you have right now and what can you wait on?
